There are various elements in a brochure that you can modify before printing to create an attractive marketing tool. How about after the printing? Well there is one thing you can customize after printing the brochure. It is the folds of the brochure. Folds contribute a great deal to the appeal of the brochure. It compliments the design and layout of the brochure. There are various types of folds such as no-fold, single fold or bi-fold, letter old, roll fold, accordion fold, gate fold, French fold, gate fold, and parallel fold. Let’s have a look at some of the folds used for brochure.
A no-fold brochure is also called a flyer. This brochure has no folds and both the sides of this brochure are used for printing. A single fold brochure is also known as bi-fold. This brochure consists of two sections and four pages. The brochure can be folded lengthwise or diagonally. Another type of fold is the letter fold. By using this fold you will get three sections and six pages. Do not get confused with the letter fold and tri-fold. The roll fold is very similar to the letter fold brochure. The only difference is that the innermost page is smaller compared to other panels.
Where as, a gate fold brochure has eight panels, four in front and at the back. The two panels at the opposite end are folded inward that is to the centre of the page to create this effect. Have you come across a z shaped fold? This kind of a fold is called the accordion fold. It can have pages up to six or eight, according to the number of folds you create. A parallel fold also known as half and half has eight equal panels.
Among all these bi-fold is the most commonly used one for the brochure. A bi fold brochure design provides more space to incorporate more information and details. This type of brochure is used to introduce a new product or service in the market. They consist of attractive designs and vibrant colours. They are mostly placed in areas with maximum visibility such as near the cash counters or display racks.
The accuracy of all the folds depends upon the page you use for printing. The thicker the page the more will be the margin of error.
