Creating a Diagram Icon


Let’s see how to make a diagram icon as shown below.


Step 1

 

Open a new document of 370 pixels × 370 pixels. From the Tools panel choose a Pie Graph Tool.

 

 

 


Step 2

 

Draw a Graph with 350 pixels width and 350 pixels height. Enter the information from left to right. I inserted 70, 20, 9 and 7. You can enter any amount. Press the check box button in the upper right corner when you are finished.



 


Step 3

 

Delete the stroke. To open the Ungroup dialog box, navigate to Menu > Object > Ungroup (Shift+Ctrl_G). You will receive a warning message. Press Yes.

 


Step 4

 

Transform the main graph shape to vertical and rotate it 60 degree. Choose the graph and move to Effect > 3D > Extrude & Bevel. Enter the values shown below. Also change Surface to No Shading option.

 

 


 

 


Step 5


Navigate to Object > Expand Appearance and Ungroup two times. Use Gradient to colourise all the parts of the Graph. For the biggest part of the graph give these colours:

 


Step 6


Choose each part of the graph and give it a gradient fill as you prefer.

 


Step 7

 

Choose all parts of the graph and group them. Copy them and Paste in Front. With the arrow buttons move it to the bottom 11 times then Send it to Back. Make Transparency Opacity 40%.
